Do I have to move my whole book on day one?
No. Start with active files and bring the history over when it suits you.
No, and most brokers do not. The usual pattern is to bring in the files that are live right now, the deals in flight and the clients you are actively talking to, and then bring the history across once the day to day is running smoothly.
There is a practical reason for that order. Active files are the ones where the new tools pay off immediately: the pipeline, reminders, conditions tracking and the AI Underwriter all do their work on deals that are moving. Historical records mostly matter for marketing and renewals, which are important but not urgent in your first week.
Two routes into the platform stay open permanently, so nothing is a one time window.
Velocity sync. Connect with your own Velocity API key and run a sync on demand. It brings across deals, borrowers and co borrowers, runs in one direction only, and reaches roughly five years of history. You can run it on your first day, or three months in, or both.
File import. Spreadsheets, exports from another CRM and records older than the API window all come in through import. There is no five year limit here, so a book that goes back a decade can still arrive intact.
Plenty of brokers use both: sync for recent business, import for the archive. There is no charge for either, and no cap on how many times you run them, so you are not rationing imports against a plan limit.
The result is that switching does not have to be a weekend project. You can work live files in BrokerDam while your older records sit where they are, and move them when you have an hour rather than because a deadline forced it.
Setup details for the sync are on the Velocity integration page.
Everything in BrokerDam is included in one plan. $99 CAD per month or $999 per year, per user.
